ALTAR SERVERS:
Serving at the altar is a privilege and this ministry is a special way in which young people may serve our community. The ministry is open to young people beginning in fourth grade. All new servers are required to attend training sessions.
ARTS & ENVIRONMENT:
Through the different seasons of the liturgical year, this committee plans and implements the decoration of the church. Meetings are held as needed throughout the year.
EUCHARIST MINISTERS:
After training and formation in this ministry, Eucharistic Ministers are appointed for three-year terms to distribute Communion at the Liturgy, and at the direction of the pastoral staff to take Holy Communion to the sick. Eucharistic Ministers must be fully initiated (Baptism, First Eucharist, and Confirmation).
HOSPITALITY MINISTERS:
Hospitality ministers greet parishioners as they arrive for Mass and assist the ushers in the distribution of bulletins after Mass. Attention is given to assisting persons who have questions. Through those involved in this ministry, we hope that those arriving for liturgy at Queen of the Apostles Parish will truly see that all are welcome in our church.
LECTORS:
Lectors are fully initiated (Baptism, First Eucharist, and Confirmation) Catholic parishioners in communion with the Church who proclaim the Word of God at liturgy. Training and continuing formation sessions enable new lectors to hone their public speaking gifts as they learn how to apply these gifts within the context of the liturgy. They prepare the readings carefully in prayer, in study of the scriptural text, and in practice of the skills of oral interpretation.
LEGION OF MARY:
The Legion of Mary's explicit role is to be of service to the Church, the sanctification of members, weekly visits to the sick and the recitation of the Rosary. Members visit three nursing homes monthly and recite the Rosary with the patients. In addition, they visit the hospital, make rosaries and scapulars, and have a booth at Cowtown. They meet on Thursday mornings following the 8:00am Mass.
MUSIC MINISTRY:
Our goal is to praise God through the gift of music, improve the level of congregational participation at liturgy, continue to expand our repertoire of hymns, acclamations, choral, and instrumental music, and to maintain excellence in musical leadership.
USHERS:
This ministry involves assisting parishioners in finding seats, providing special help to parishioners who are disabled, distributing bulletins, and taking up the collections.
